Bishop Tom Burns Retires

Today The Rt Rev Tom Burns S.M. Bishop of Menevia becomes Bishop Emeritus of Menevia as later this evening during a Mass of Thanksgiving in his Cathedral Church of St. Joseph's in Swansea, Bishop Tom passes the diocesan crosier to the safe keeping of The Most Rev. George Stack the Archbishop of Cardiff & Metropolitan and also The Apostolic Administrator of Menevia. Bishop Tom has, over the years, been a very good friend to the Catholic Police Guild, especially in his role as our representative at the Bishop's Conference. As well as his demanding diocesan duties, he has always found time to give our N.E.C. members his good council, support and guidance whenever approached. And of course he has joyfully and prayerfully celebrated for us our annual Requiem Mass at Westminster Cathedral. The Catholic Police Guild of England & Wales, send Bishop Tom our sincere thanks and warmest good wishes on his retirement. We pray that he continues to have good health in the years ahead. Ad Multos Annos!

Fr. Barry Lomax - CPG National Chaplain
