CPG Requiem Mass 2019
Wednesday 6th November 2019 saw the 96th annual solemn requiem Mass at Westminster Cathedral.
Bishop Tom Burns SM, Bishop Emeritus of Menevia celebrated Mass, con-celebrated by Fr Barry Lomax, our National Chaplain.
Prayers were offered for those police officers and staff who have died in the last year. Police headdresses and wreath were offered to the Bishop during Mass and were placed on the sanctuary.
The Last Post was played after Communion followed by a two minutes silence. The congregation then sang The National Anthem. Music for the Mass was provided by the Metropolitan Police Choir, under the direction of Richard Fox.
Mass is always well attended with representation from across the UK. Fr Barry Lomax shared:
‘Our Mass of Requiem celebrated around this time every year affords that moment to reflect and remember both officers and staff who have made the ultimate sacrifice. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13).’
